Fiedelsteinweg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fiedelsteinweg is a ten kilometer long marked hiking trail north of the town of Litschau in the Austrian state of Lower Austria . It is located in the Waldviertel and is named after the destination of the route, the Fiedelstein, a legendary granite block.

Route

The path to Fiedelstein with marker no. 13 is a circular route. The starting point is at the panorama board at Litschauer Herrensee . The hiking trail leads along the Herrenseerundweg for a while, then opposite the lido into the forest and finally to the "Steinerne Wegsäule" rest area. It goes through typical Waldviertel landscape via the village of Hörmanns near Litschau to Fiedelstein.

According to a legend, when the devil sat on this stone and played a fiddle, he is said to have lured people into the moor, where they then perished.

The way back finally leads back over Hörmanns and then over the Kastanitzerbach to the Herrenseerundweg and back to the starting point at the panorama board.
