Fikret Dogan

Fikret Doğan (* 1968 in Elbistan , Turkey ) is a Turkish-German journalist, translator and author. He lives in Berlin .

Life

Fikret Doğan studied international relations and German in Istanbul and Mannheim. He has lived in Germany since 1990. Fikret Doğan writes as a freelance journalist for the Turkish daily Taraf ; until 2006 he reported for the sports department and the features section of Cumhuriyet from Germany. In the 1990s he wrote about German cultural topics for the Turkish editorial team of Deutsche Welle .

For the Istanbul publishing house Iletişim , Fikret Doğan translated the Albert Einstein biography of the science journalist Jürgen Neffe (published by S. Fischer Verlag) and the novella When a Striker dreams. My world history of football by László Darvasi (in German by Suhrkamp). From 1999 to 2006, Doğan was responsible as a translator and voice actor for the Turkish language department of DaimlerChrysler TV Productions .

For his short story "Kırmızı Eşarp" (Red Scarf) Fikret Doğan received the jury prize in the 1997 Deutsche Welle literary competition. In 2004 his play once a Turk, always a Turk was performed by the actors Erden Alkan and Stefan Tiede on German cabaret stages . In 2006 the play, which in twenty stories depicts the everyday madness of living together for people of Turkish and German descent in the Federal Republic, went on a tour of the Turkish Riviera.
