Branch church Hoch St. Paul
The branch church Hoch St. Paul is 1176 meters above sea level on the northeastern foothills of the Paulberg in the municipality of St. Urban . The church belonging to the parish of St. Urban was first mentioned in a document in 1285. The church building is under monument protection ( list entry ).
Building description
The core of the walls of the nave is from the Romanesque period . The late Gothic choir with a three-eighths closure was built in the second half of the 15th century. The choir tower with round-arched sound openings and an onion helmet received its present appearance in the baroque era . The sacristy on the north side was built in the 17th century. The pointed arched Gothic west portal is protected by a porch.
A barrel vault with stitch caps rises in the two-bay nave . The cross-vaulted tower yoke is separated from the nave and choir by two belt arches . The choir has a barrel vault with stitch caps and vault borders.
Facility
The high altar from the last quarter of the 17th century has been newly adapted and bears a figurine of St. Paul . The left side altar is marked 1671. The right side altar with a figurine of St. Wolfgang and an oil painting with two saints was created in the first quarter of the 18th century. The pulpit dates from the last quarter of the 17th century. A panel painting of a crucifixion with a crowd, painted around 1530, is kept in the Diocesan Museum in Klagenfurt .
