Building description

walled-in Roman-era stone head

The church is a late Gothic building from the first quarter of the 16th century, which was later converted to Baroque style . The choir tower and the choir date from the 14th century. The tower with round sound openings stands between the nave and the choir and is crowned by a pyramid roof modified in the 19th century. A bell was cast in 1851. The choir was supported by buttresses that were added later . Painted, late Baroque pilasters structure the facade of the nave. Two simple heads from a Roman medallion grave as well as the epitaphs of Margaretha Geschweindlin (1639) and Johan Reyer (1862) are walled into the outer wall . A two-armed, two-flight staircase with a roof supported by wooden columns leads to the southern fluted arched portal from 1524. The fluted west portal, which is reinforced in the upper part, dates from the same year.

In the three-bay nave, a star-ribbed vault rises on wall templates with circular services . The tower yoke with cross ribbed vault has a star capstone . On the north side a lower segment arch opens the tower yoke to the baptistery room with a groin vault. In the south is the flat-roofed sacristy . The keystone of the ribbed vault in relief shows the head of Christ. The ribs in the polygonal, barrel-shaped arched end of the choir were chopped off. The church interior is illuminated , among other things, by three two-lane tracery windows.

Murals

The wall paintings were created in the second quarter of the 15th century. A crucifixion in a crowd is depicted on the south wall of the Chorjoch . God the Father on the north wall is probably a fragment of an Annunciation . In the west above the arch you can see a Deësis and the Archangel Michael fighting the devil, in the vault medallions with the apocalyptic animals and in the triumphal reveal female saints in box rooms. The frescoes in the choir depict a donor scene on the south wall, St. Paul on the east wall and two evangelists and angels in the vault .

Facility

The high altar is a wall altar made around 1740 with a detached cafeteria. The altar, marbled in red and green, is adorned with golden foliage and ribbon work . The central figure represents Saint Urban , the top picture the Holy Trinity . In the cafeteria , next to the tabernacle, there are statues of angels and the martyrs Laurentius and Stephanus . The console figures of Saints Florian and Stephen were created around 1740.

The Mariahilf Altar made around 1670 on the left consists of an aedicula over a pedestal, vine vine columns, side console figures under canopy arches and a detached segmented gable with a small aedicule as an attachment. The altar bears a statue of Mary, flanked by Joachim and Anna .

The right wall altar was built around 1740. The central figure shows Christ in mourning , the side figures a painful Mother of God and Saint Helena , the top is a painting of Saint Catherine and the figures of Christ carrying the cross and Saint Veronica with a handkerchief .

The pulpit with sound cover was made around 1730/40. The paintings of the four evangelists can be seen on the polygonal pulpit.

Furthermore, a crucifixion group from the 18th century on the triumphal arch , a painting with the exaltation of St. John Nepomuk from the 18th century and pictures of the Stations of the Cross from the second half of the 18th century complete the furnishings of the church.
