The Roman Catholic branch church Latschau is located in the village of Latschau in the Tschagguns community in Vorarlberg . The branch church of the Transfiguration of Jesus of the parish and pilgrimage church Tschagguns belongs to the deanery of Montafon in the diocese of Feldkirch . The church is a listed building .

history

The building of the church in Latschau is closely related to the expansion of hydropower generation by the Vorarlberger Illwerke. In connection with the establishment of the Lünerseewerk (1954–1958), the population in Latschau grew so rapidly that the old chapel was no longer sufficient.

The new church was built in 1965/1966 according to the plans of the architects German Meusburger and Walter Ramersdorfer and consecrated in 1968.

architecture

The rectangular building with a slightly pointed entrance wall and altar wall has a deep saddle roof over side ribbon windows. The north wall of the altar is a concrete glass window “Transfiguration of Jesus and Anthony of Padua ” based on a design by the painter Martin Häusle and executed by Margarethe Häusle (1966).

Furnishing

On the altar wall there is a figure of Mary with Child, restored around 1515/1520 and supplemented in 1967 by the Schruns painter and restorer Konrad Honold .

The organ was built by the organ builder Martin Pflüger from 1981 to 1983 .
