The church Maria Schutz is a Roman Catholic branch church of the parish St. Veit in Andritz, the XII. District of the city of Graz. It was built in 1960–62.

location

The church is in Kalkleiten (Kalkleitenstraße 15) in the municipality of Stattegg in Styria on a foothill of the Schöckl .

history

The church was built in 1960 according to plans by Kurt Weber-Mzell and consecrated in 1962. It is subordinate to the parish of St. Veit near Graz .

The church, almost a central building with a raised, double-skinned pitched roof has a wedge-shaped floor plan with a point facing the slope towards the choir . On the long sides there are ten colored concrete glass windows designed by Alfred Wickenburg and cardboard boxes by Franz Felfer . These show Noah's Ark , the Tower of David , the Annunciation of the Lord , the angel with the chalice, the angel with the bread and the cross. Between these motifs there are depictions of lilies . A bronze crucifix designed by Alexander Silveri is located on the high altar, which was built in 1965 . In the apex of the choir there is a life-size Madonna in protective cloak by Franz Weiss from 1965.
