The Roman Catholic branch church Rabenstein stands east and above Pöckstein Castle in the municipality of Althofen . The church consecrated to Saints John and Paul belongs to the parish of Althofen . The church was probably built in the 11th century. A Raminstain is mentioned in 1074 as a branch of Kappel . In 1788 the profanation of the church could be prevented. Now the church serves as the family church of the Eisner family and since 2015 it has also been the final resting place of Max Eisner junior, the "egg baron vom Krappfel".

description

The church is a small Romanesque building with a round apse and a roof turret . The nave has three Romanesque funnel windows, one of which is walled up. The apse window in the apse has been changed to a pointed arch. The roofs of the church are covered with stone slabs. The wooden flat ceiling inside was renewed in 1961.

The altar, created around 1670, consists of an aedicule on a small base with side console figures under canopy arches and a blown volute gable with a small frame as an attachment. The base, gable, top and the canopy are decorated with rich cartilage . The altar bears a figure of Mary, the upper picture shows John the Baptist. The two console figures represent the church saints. In 1967 figures of Our Lady and the apostles Bartholomäus and Philip were stolen from the altar.
