The Roman Catholic branch church Radochsberg is in the district Stocker in the town of Abtenau in the district Hallein in Salzburg . It is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Saint Leonhard and belongs to the Abtenau parish in the Hallein deanery in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

This neo-Gothic church was built between 1901 and 1903. Decisive for the construction was the distance of the district to the parish church of Abtenau of twelve kilometers. The church is now privately owned. On the occasion of the centenary of the church it was decided to renovate the church. For this reason the church preservation association Radochsberg was founded, which from then on took over the work on planning and renovation. The municipality of Abtenau, St. Peter's Abbey in Salzburg , the Federal Monuments Office and the State of Salzburg contributed to the costs . In the spring of 2002, the renovation work on the church began: the outer facade was given a lime plaster and the entire roof structure had to be renewed before the roof was covered with larch shingles. The neo-Gothic windows were protected with special glazing. These are hand-blown and made in the Cistercian monastery Schlierbach .

A lot had to be repaired inside the church as well. Not only the angels of Father Roman Morandell in the vault of the chancel, but also the wall paintings and the Way of the Cross have been restored. The floor was laid with polished Untersberg marble . An electric bell was also installed.
