history

The church was probably built in the 12th century. The Romanesque church building received a tower in 1892. 1972/1973 was a restoration.

In 1947 the church became a branch of the Klagenfurt-Annabichl parish church .

architecture

The Romanesque nave has baroque window openings. The eastern low Romanesque round apse has Gothic windows. To the north there is a later addition to the sacristy. The presented western vestibule tower from 1892 with arched sound windows wears a pointed helmet.

The interior of the church shows a small single nave under a renewed flat wooden ceiling. During the restoration in 1972/1973 a Romanesque high window was uncovered in the south wall and a remarkable find of frescoes from three epochs uncovered, in the apse Christ in the mandorla with evangelist symbols, including fragmented apostles, in the nave are destroyed by the window openings, remains show at the North wall of the Epiphany and the Adoration of the Magi merging into the representation of the stable in Bethlehem on the triumphal arch wall. There are also traces of stucco and plaster from the middle of the 15th century. The sequence of frescoes on the south wall is from the second half of the 15th century with scenes from the childhood and passion of Christ in two rows. In the reveal of the Gothic tracery window is a representation of the Eucharistic Man of Sorrows with wounds through which vines and ears of corn grow, opposite the representation of John the Baptist , these frescoes are probably in the succession of Friedrich von Villach around 1460. In the reveal of the choir window shows the painting the St. Bernardine of Siena , Christophorus, Aquilinus and Ursula.

Furnishing

In the brick cafeteria, a remnant of a monumental Roman inscription stone is bricked up with ILLPRON 592. On the southern triumphal arch wall there is a small late Gothic figure of Bartholomew from the mid-15th century.

The high altar from the 19th century bears small figures from the 17th and 18th centuries, with St. Bartholomäus, to the side Francis, George, Florian and Antonius of Padua, on the upper floor next to the picture Maria Immaculata with female saints the statuettes Archangel Michael, Johannes Nepomuk, Johannes the Baptist and Raphael.
