history

The church was built from a barn between 1928 and 1929 by the Gsenger family with the support of the entire population from Weitenau and Wallingwinkel. The simple church building northwest of Voglau was consecrated on October 13, 1929 by the Archabbot of St. Peter Abbey in Salzburg , Petrus Klotz . With the construction of this little church, the wish of the population in the most distant parish of Abtenau for a place of worship at a reasonable distance was fulfilled.

Today the Wilhelmskirche is privately owned and was completely renovated in 2005.

In recent years the pilgrimages to this little church have increased steadily and are very popular with the population.

Architecture and equipment

The high altar is a former Corpus Christi altar. The figures of hll. Wilhelm and Leonhard come from the hand of the sculptor Alois Zwerger .

The Ölberggruppe in the lower church was created by Jakob Adlhart .
