Filip Bandžak [ fɪˈlɪp banˈdʒak ] (born September 10, 1983 in Pardubice ) is a Czech opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Filip Bandžak started playing the violin at the age of four . He began his singing career at the age of nine in the children's choir of the Prague Philharmonic Choir , where he became a member in 1992. In 1993 he sang the title role in the children's opera Brundibár with appearances in Berlin and at the Warsaw State Opera. As a soloist on the opera stage, he made his debut in 1995, then still with a boy's voice , in the role of the Duchess's page in Rigoletto at the National Theater in Prague .

From 2005 he studied at the Russian Academy for Theater Arts (GITIS) in Moscow . He received his training in acting from Rosetta Nemtschinskaja and in singing from Svetlana Warguzowa and from the baritone Yuri Wedenejew, a soloist of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater . He also studied with Jewgeni Nesterenko in Vienna . At the same time he studied at the West Bohemian University in Pilsen , where he obtained a master's degree in psychology and cultural history of music.

Between 2006 and 2010 he won several singing competitions. In 2006 he received 1st prize at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary .

He made his professional operatic debut as a baritone at the Pilsen Opera House as Marcel in La Bohème . In the 2012/13 season he sang the role of Moralès in Carmen at the Toulon Opera House . From the 2012/13 season he was engaged at the FX Šalda Theater in Liberec (the former Reichenberg City Theater). There he stepped u. a. as Danilo in the operetta The Merry Widow (2013/14 season) and from 2013 to February 2015 as Sancho Panza in the opera Don Quichotte by Jules Massenet . From October to December 2014 he was a guest at the National Theater Brno (Národní divadlo Brno) as Figaro in the opera The Barber of Seville .

He made regular guest appearances in Prague and Pilsen, and sang the barber -Figaro in a guest appearance in Naples . At the Moravian-Silesian National Theater (Silesian State Theater) in Opava , Czech Republic, he appeared in the Carmina Burana . In 2012 he went on a concert tour through Russia.

He has performed at various international music festivals, including a. at the Miskolc International Opera Festival (BartokPlus-Operafestival, 2009/2010), the Tallinn Opera Festival and the Harbin International Music Festival. In July 2013 he took in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague , the Requiem "Oratio Spei" by Juraj Filas on.
