Final Punch (original title: The Circuit , German reference title for the television broadcast Kickbox Hero - Battle of the Invincibles ) is an American action film from 2002 with Oliver Gruner in the lead role.

action

Dirk Longstreet was a fighter in illegal "gladiator" competitions years ago. There were no rules there, and so fighters were often killed. Longstreet was the undisputed champion and was unharmed. Longstreet is now a university professor in Los Angeles when his brother is kidnapped. He is blackmailed to face the brutal gladiatorial fights again. Longstreet accepts the demand and first beats all opponents, whereupon he sets out to free his brother. In doing so he kills everyone who gets in his way. Finally he challenges the mastermind behind the kidnapping, gang boss Vixton Hack, to fight man against man. Longstreet wins and frees his brother.

FSK

The Final Punch was released on January 28, 2004 in an 80-minute version by the FSK for ages 18 and over. A 76-minute version was approved as early as February 26, 2004 for those aged 16 and over. This is explicitly referred to as the "abridged version" in the release certificate.

Reviews

"Well-deserved whipping boys of the first sporting and third acting set pay their respects to the Action Fundi"

- kino.de

“The return of the old beating orgies, the staging of which is just as unconvincing as the choreography of the fights. An unreflective commercial production, in which mendacity competes with violent greed for sensation. "

Sequels

In 2002 the sequel Circuit II - The Final Punch , also marketed as Behind Bars - No Rules, No Mercy , was produced directly for the video and DVD market. The Circuit 3 followed in 2006 . In both films, Olivier Gruner can be seen again in the role of Dirk Longstreet.
