Finchley Road is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Camden . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2, at the intersection of Finchley Road and Canfield Gardens. Served by the Metropolitan Line and the Jubilee Line , the station was used by 10.06 million passengers in 2014. You can change between the two lines at the same platform.

The station was opened on June 30, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway (predecessor of the Metropolitan Line). After the construction of additional parallel tracks, the underground operation of the Stanmore branch line was transferred from the Metropolitan Line to the Bakerloo Line on November 20, 1939 in order to relieve the former and at the same time be able to accelerate it. On May 1, 1979, operations were transferred from the Bakerloo Line to the newly opened Jubilee Line.

The tunnel section towards the city center begins immediately southeast of the station. Geological investigations in the context of the tunnel construction have shown that during the Würm Ice Age the glaciation of Great Britain reached exactly as far as here.

Not far from the underground station was Finchley Road station of the Midland Railway . It opened on July 13, 1868, was on the line to St Pancras station and was in service until July 11, 1927.
