from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Findel Gorge , also known as the Findeltal , is located in the Valais Alps east of Zermatt in Switzerland .

The gorge bears the name of the Findelbach that flows through it and drains to the west .

It extends over a length of five kilometers in an east-west direction. The gorge is framed by the Zermatt Rothorn , the Stockhorn and the Gornergrat massif.

At the upper end of the Findelschlucht is Findelgletscher . On the northern side of the valley there are two small hamlets, Findeln and Gant . Both have only about 100 inhabitants and are cut off from the outside world in winter.
