Findeln is a small hamlet in the Valais Alps , 2 km east of Zermatt , halfway between Zermatt and the Findel Glacier .
geography
Findeln is located below the Sunnegga station on a terrace above the Findel Gorge . In winter, the hamlet can only be reached via mountain railways or hiking trails. Its population is around 100 and belongs to the municipality of Zermatt. The name Findeln comes from the Findelbach that flows past the hamlet. Findeln is part of the Zermatt ski area. In 2007 the old chairlift was replaced by a new four-seater chairlift. This leads from Sunnegga via Findeln to Breitboden. This new lift is an important link between the two ski areas Sunnegga and Gornergrat .
In Findeln, the mountain farmers planted rye and barley up to an altitude of 2100 m until the end of the Second World War . M. at.
