Fingershop.ch (proper spelling in lowercase) is a Swiss book publisher , who in sign language , sign language culture and especially Swiss-German Sign Language specializes (DSGS), with the focus moderately Children are the target audience. history

The publishing house was founded in Allschwil in 2006 by the deaf sign language teacher and visual pedagogue Marina Ribeaud and started publishing with the book Das Gebärdensuchbuch . The publisher was awarded an innovation prize by the Swiss Association of the Deaf (SGB-FSS) for the first children's book to be published in Switzerland in sign language, Maga and the Enchanted Ears . In 2009, an additional website was set up on the fingershop.ch publisher's website in order to be able to offer a sales platform to other sign language projects that are independent of the publisher. In 2012 a children's book was published for the first time in German, French and Italian.

Association to promote sign language in children

In 2009 the Association for the Promotion of Sign Language in Children was founded with the aim of promoting sign language in Switzerland and specifically promoting German-Swiss Sign Language (DSGS) in children ("in German-speaking Switzerland or in the Swiss-German- speaking area"). This support association enables the financing of the various books and DVDs that the publisher cannot produce at a cost-covering level. Together with the association, the publisher runs a website ( gebaerden-sprache.ch ) that offers background information on the subject of sign language, such as B. on language acquisition , sign language culture, short biographies of the deaf, diploma theses, TV and radio broadcasts, but also various online tools, such as lip reading and finger alphabet learning programs, which are provided by different authors.
