Fiona Hall (artist)

Fiona Hall OA (born November 14, 1953 in Sydney ) is an Australian photographer and object artist .

life and work

Fiona Margaret Hall was born to Ruby Payne-Scott and William Holman Hall. She is the sister of Peter Gavin Hall . Hall studied at the National Art School in Sydney from 1972 to 1975 . She was the assistant to the English photographer Fay Godwin . Her first solo exhibition took place in 1977 at the Creative Camera Gallery in London. Fiona Hall works as a photographer, painter , object and installation artist .

Fiona Hall is represented by the Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery in Sydney. She has exhibited in the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria and was a participant in dOCUMENTA (13) in 2012 with Fall Prey and in the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 with WrongWayTime .

Fiona Hall was awarded the Order of Australia (OA) as an officer (general division) in 2013 .
