Uwe Schieferdecker (born August 28, 1959 in Leipzig ) is a German author and city ​​planner .

Life

Uwe Schieferdecker is the nephew of the Dresden graphic artist Jürgen Schieferdecker . He studied from 1982 to 1987 a. a. with Eckhard Oelke Geography at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Lomonossow University Moscow . From 1987 to 1991 he completed a research degree at the University of Halle and the National Autonomous University of Mexico . As a result, he did his doctorate in 1992 at Oelke on "Planning Influence on Urban Development in Mexico". Since 1993, Schieferdecker has been involved in cautious urban renewal in the Saxon town of Freiberg , Johanngeorgenstadt, Strausberg, Velten, Müncheberg, Rüdersdorf near Berlin and Seelow. In Strausberg , Schieferdecker campaigned against the speculative destruction of historical buildings in the 1990s and for a sensitive addition to the listed old town while preserving regional building traditions. As the author of around 35 books, Schieferdecker focuses on architectural and historical topics in Dresden and Saxony . This includes the work of the city planning officer Hans Erlwein as well as everyday history in the 20th century. Schieferdecker lives in Dresden and Berlin.
