Fiorenzo Carpi

Fiorenzo Carpi (born October 19, 1918 in Milan , † May 21, 1997 in Rome ) was an Italian composer and pianist . He is known for his film music, for example for the Pinocchio series from 1972.

Born in Milan, Fiorenzo Carpi completed his composition studies at the Conservatorio di Musica "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan. Carpi met Giorgio Strehler shortly after World War II and began working at Piccolo Teatro in 1947, where he composed music for over 120 productions, including Goldoni's Arlecchino and Il campiello , Shakespeare's The Tempest , Pirandello's Giants of the Mountain , Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard , Marivaux ' Isle of Slaves and Goethe's Faust . He also worked with theater directors Vittorio Caprioli , Dario Fo , Vittorio Gassman and Eduardo De Filippo, as well as with various film directors including Louis Malle , Peter Del Monte , Tinto Brass and Patrice Chéreau . His TV credits include the music for Comencini's classic version of The Adventures of Pinocchio . In addition, he composed both symphonic and chamber music .
