Peter Del Monte
Peter Del Monte (born July 29, 1943 in San Francisco , † May 31, 2021 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Del Monte came to Italy from his native country as a child, where he graduated from school in literary studies and then attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . In 1969 Fuori campi completed his thesis there, which attracted critical attention at various festivals, including Cannes . The following years Del Monte worked for Italian television, where he presented two works based on literary works by Albert Camus and Albert Camus, respectively. Ugo Foscolo based.
In 1975 he turned to the cinema; Irene, Irene was praised for his careful staging of a life crisis and its portrayal by Alain Cuny . It then took Del Monte, uncompromisingly in his artistic demands, five years to complete his follow-up work, the quiet, psychological, atmospherically dense L'altra donna . After the serious and cruel Piccoli fuochi , he created Giulia & Giulia in 1987, one of the first cinema films to be produced electronically - which obviously interested Del Monte more than the story the film tells.
He also remained true to himself with his films of the 1990s and the new millennium: Serious, critically acclaimed acting cinema that regularly found audiences and is not subject to any fashion trends.
