Pinocchio is an Italian television miniseries from 1972. Directed by Luigi Comencini based on the children's book by Carlo Collodi .
The series was first broadcast in Germany in 1973, and a heavily cut version was shown as a feature film in 1978 .

Carpenter Geppetto carves the wooden figure Pinocchio , which is brought to life by a good fairy and has numerous adventures: with robbers, cats and foxes, in fantastic worlds. In the end she will be reunited with her Creator.
Locations
The filming of the fairy's house took place on Lake Martignano . Another scene takes place at the bridge Ponte di San Pietro on the river Fiora near Ischia di Castro .

Criticism of the German theatrical version
Regarding the German, 92-minute long version of the 320-minute long original, RE said in the film service : “... in the end, the anger over the lovelessness and bungling of the German version dominates. With this bland patchwork [...] you shouldn't lure children or adults to the cinema. " The lexicon of international films also judged as follows: "The mutilated German version of the beautiful television film gives little indication of the poetry and tension of the original."
