Feuer und Eis (OT: Fire and Ice ) is an American animated film (1983) by Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta in the elaborate rotoscoping process: Real actors were filmed and then overdrawn frame by frame. Many of the figures were created by Frank Frazetta. The film was a financial failure because Frazetta's fantasy imagery could not be given enough expression with the trick technology of the time. The film opened in German cinemas on March 25, 1983.

action

The film takes place in a prehistoric age in which there are already weapons made of metal as well as primeval animals.

Evil Queen Juliana and her son Lord Nekron are the rulers of the ice. To subjugate the people they fight with black magic and deadly cold against Jarol, the king of light and fire, who has his seat in the fire castle.

Because of the Ice Age, which Lord Nekron brought upon the earth, and his cruel army of half-men, people flee to King Jarol's castle of fire. While Nekron drives the ice further south through telekinetic forces, his mother pursues parallel goals and lets Jarol's daughter Teegra kidnap by her dark captors. She should become Nekron's wife, give birth to sons and, as a hostage, force Jarol to give up his resistance against Nekron. While Teegra is able to escape her kidnappers, the young warrior Larn makes his way south after his tribe was destroyed by Nekrons fighters. On the way he is pursued by a mysterious rider who helps him in some dangerous situations. After a while, Larn meets Teegra and together they try to escape Nekron's captors. However, they are separated by the attack of a large sea monster. The unconscious Larn is taken away by the mysterious rider while Teegra falls again into the hands of the kidnappers. When Larn wakes up, the rider reveals himself to be "Darkwolf", who leads a personal campaign against Nekron and fights his opponents with the help of magical and animal powers. While Teegra is brought to Nekron's fortress after a few detours, Larn and "Darkwolf" make their way to Jarol's fortress to discuss with him what needs to be done to ward off Nekron's onslaught. Together, "Darkwolf", Larn and some dragon riders make their way to Nekrons fortress and attack it. During the defense, many of the dragon riders fall and "Darkwolf" can reach Nekron's chamber at the last moment and kill him in a decisive battle while Larn frees Teegra. When Nekron's power collapses, his ice fortress bursts too, killing Nekron's mother as well. At the last moment Jarol releases the lava from his fortress and destroys Nekrons glacier and his army. Larn and Teegra escaped annihilation shortly before. When they find a lone survivor from Nekron's army, Larn tries to kill him with a stone. At the last moment Teegra holds him back and shows the frightened man kindness and gentleness. You recognize the "Darkwolf" on a hill, who smiles at you in a friendly way and finally goes on his way.
