The fisher's distribution is a continuous probability distribution . A -distributed random variable results from the logarithm of an F-distributed random variable multiplied by 1 ⁄ 2 to:
The distribution was first described by RA Fisher in 1924 . In statistical test procedures it is now usually replaced by the F-distribution , also developed by Fisher .
Reception in public
John Watts , who knew this distribution from his psychology studies, named the rock band Fischer-Z after it .
