Swann Oberson

Swann Oberson (born July 26, 1986 in Geneva ) is a Swiss swimmer . She starts for the Natation Sportive Genève association and lives in Thônex . In addition to Swiss citizenship , she also has French citizenship .

Oberson first took part in swimming competitions at the age of twelve. She specialized in long freestyle runs and long-distance swimming . At the national level, she initially remained in the shadow of European champion Flavia Rigamonti . That changed in 2007 when she won her first Swiss championship title in the 1500 m freestyle. In the same year she reached number 7 at the Universiade in Bangkok .

At the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven in 2008 she was fifth in the 1500 m freestyle. On April 19, 2008, she set her first Swiss record in Bellinzona when she undercut eight-year-old record in the Rigamontis short course by almost nine seconds (16: 23.02 minutes).

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , Oberson achieved her most valuable result to date in the first 10-kilometer race. She took sixth place.

At the 2011 Swimming World Championships in the East China Sea off Shanghai , she was world champion over 5 km in 1: 00: 39.7 hours ahead of Aurélie Muller from France (1: 00: 40.1).
