Fission is a Thrash Metal project launched in 2002 with influences from Melodic Death Metal by the two Swedish musicians Benny Hägglund and Andreas " Vintersorg " Hedlund.

history

The “Fisson” project was founded in 2002 by Benny Hägglund, who was also the drummer for “ Vintersorg ” at times. After Hägglund began to write songs for the project, he first engaged Andreas Hedlund, the head behind “Vintersorg”, for vocal passages . In addition, some demos were recorded, and a two-track demo was sent to the Austrian label Napalm Records , which the band later signed a record deal with. In 2004 the first album Crater was released , for which Hedlund contributed the lyrics, vocals and keyboard parts, while Hägglund played guitar , electric bass and drums . By May 2005, songs were written for the following album. Since November of the same year the record company has allegedly been waiting for a follow-up album.

style

The style is assigned to Thrash Metal , whereby a strong influence from Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal , as well as many other modern influences, cannot be denied. Numerous progressive game elements can also be found. A characteristic feature of this is the constant change between aggressive shouts and clear, epic singing, which is more likely to be attributed to other genres. Overall, there is a very broad spectrum of music on offer and almost every song on the debut album features different stylistic elements. This progressive development can be traced back to the influence of Andreas Hedlund, while Benny Hägglund wanted to specialize more in the Thrash Metal of the 1980s. Music of this style is played by his band TME , in which Vintersorg guitarist Mattias Marklund also participates.
