Fitch Award

The Fitch Award is presented annually by the American Society of ichthyologists and herpetologists (since 1998 American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists awarded Asih).

It recognizes sustainable, outstanding achievements by individuals in research into the biology of amphibians and / or reptiles . Special attention will be given to researchers who have contributed to a better understanding of the systematics , ecology , natural history and species protection of amphibians and reptiles with their work .

The award , consisting of a cash prize and a certificate, is presented at the annual ASIH meeting.

It is named after the American zoologist and herpetologist Henry Sheldon Fitch .

Nominations can be made by any herpetologist and should include the candidate's résumé , the specifics of his or her contributions and their impact on herpetology. Self-candidacy is also allowed.
