Fjuckby is a village in the Swedish province of Uppsala län and the historic province of Uppland . The place in the municipality of Uppsala is located about 15 kilometers north of the center of Uppsala .

According to the definition of Statistiska centralbyrån , the place covers the area of ​​two roughly equal, 1 km apart ( Småorter ): the western part is called Fjuckby västra ("West Fjuckby"), the eastern part Oppgården och Fjuckby.

The secondary Länsväg C600 in the former course of the Europastraße 4 passes to the west not far from the town, while the new route, which has been expanded into a motorway and opened in 2006, runs almost 2 km to the east.

Place name

The oldest reference to the place name comes from the year 1316. The first part of the current place name, fjuck , goes back to the early Swedish verb fjuka and means to blow up quickly or to blow around violently . Fjuk is part of several Swedish place names and often denotes windy places and places.

Because of the similarity of the name with the English word Fuck requested eleven inhabitants in December 2006 at Lantmäteriet renamed Fjukeby or Fjukaby. The first suggestion was the spelling that was valid until 1930. On February 26, 2007, the decision was made that the place will continue to be called Fjuckby, as too few residents supported the proposal.
