history
In 983 Styrbjörn the Strong lost the Battle of Fyrisvall ( Slaget vid Fyrisvallarna ) in the area around Uppsala .
The municipality of Knivsta belonged to Uppsala until January 1, 2003, but is now an independent municipality.

Attractions

Outside the city of Uppsala is Alt-Uppsala , a historic settlement with important barrows and an imposing church. The historical location of the Temple of Uppsala is also believed to be there.
The stones of Mora (Swedish Mora stenar ) are often counted among the attractions of Uppsala, but are actually part of the municipality of Knivsta.
