Content profile
Policy and election programs
The main concern of the Feminist Initiative is to achieve equality for all people. According to the party, everyone has a basic right to a life free of discrimination. The party is committed against all forms of discrimination (including sexism , racism , homophobia , transphobia or antiziganism, etc.) and is guided by the theory of intersectionality .
In addition to human rights, the Feminist Initiative is committed to more sustainability and nature conservation . Renewable resources such as wind and solar energy should be promoted, while environmentally harmful forms of energy generation should be stopped as quickly as possible. The party wants to close all nuclear power plants in Sweden. The expansion of animal rights is another focus of the party.
The party sees itself as pacifist and rejects arms exports.
One of the party's demands was the introduction of a "men's tax", with which all men should pay for the consequences of violence against women by individual men.
The party advocates a liberal migration policy, the amnesty of all refugees in Sweden, a tightening of the criminal law for rape and sexual harassment, and free public transport. She rejects prostitution and advocates a ban on buying sex.
Orientation of the party
At the time it was founded, the party saw itself as purely “feminist”, i.e. neither left nor right. After the election platform was presented, however, it turned out that the party with its program is at home on the left of the center. In the opinion of the Alliansen , the Feminist Initiative represents a center-left party for them. The expression “socialist” was often used. Gudrun Schyman strictly rejects this designation.
Election results
In the 2006 Reichstag elections , the party received 0.68% of the vote. In February 2007, the party initially decided not to run for elections. However, the decision was later revised.
The feminist initiative also ran for the 2010 Reichstag elections , but failed to make it into the Reichstag with 0.40% of the vote. In the local election held at the same time, the party in Schyman's home parish Simrishamn was the third strongest with 8.9% and received four seats.
In the 2014 European elections , the party received 5.3% of the vote in Sweden and can therefore send a candidate to the European Parliament . The party's top candidate, Soraya Post , works as a human rights expert in her home province of Västra Götaland and is particularly committed to the rights of the Swedish and European Roma population.
In the 2014 election to the Swedish Reichstag , the party received 3.1% of the vote and thus narrowly failed to meet the threshold of 4%, but was able to move into several municipal councils (a total of 27 seats). The 2018 election ended disappointingly for the party with 0.5 percent.
