Knivsta is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala län and the historic province of Uppland . The main town of the municipality is Knivsta .
history
In 1952 the large parish of Knivsta was formed from the parishes (socken) Alsike, Knivsta, Lagga, Vassunda and Östuna. In 1967 parts of the Skepptuna community were added. The current municipality was transferred from Stockholm County to Uppsala County as part of the municipality reform in 1971 and became part of the municipality of Uppsala . She stayed there until January 1st, 2003, today the Knivsta community is independent again.
