structure

Lantmäteriet has around 2150 employees, around half of whom are employed at the headquarters in Gävle. Susanne Ås Sivborg has been the agency manager since 2018. The authority is divided into three departments: Fastighetsbildning , Fastighetsinskrivning and Geodata .

The Fastighetsbildning department ("Property formation") is responsible for real estate division in Sweden. The Fastighetsinskrivning ( "Property management") is predominantly of the 21 self-surveying authorities ( lantmäterimyndighet ) of the provinces and 38 municipal made surveying authorities, the real estate register and land registers maintain. The department has approximately 850 employees in approximately 80 branches nationwide. In addition, around 70 employees at the headquarters are entrusted with staff duties.

The Geodata department creates and publishes geographic information. It has around 550 employees in Gävle, Karlskrona , Kiruna and Luleå . The department was created by merging the General Reich Map Office and the Central Office for Real Estate Data. Today the department produces and sells national geographic information. The information was used, for example, in the printed maps of the Lantmäteriet:

  • Overview maps (red) on a scale of 1: 250,000
  • Road maps (blue) on a scale of 1: 100,000
  • Land maps (yellow) at a scale of 1:12 500
  • Topographic maps (green) on a scale of 1:50 000
  • Mountain maps (purple) on a scale of 1: 100,000 and 1:50,000

Lantmäteriet has stopped printing cards since July 1, 2018. Map information is provided free of charge on the Internet so that anyone interested can create and print out their own maps. The department is also responsible for the national geodetic reference system, maintains the property register and maintains the aerial photo archive of Lantmäteriet.

The former Metria department has been an independent company since May 1, 2011. She mainly carried out contract work until the outsourcing. It acted as a consulting company and provided services from the Lantmäteriet for a fee. The department had approximately 400 employees in 40 branches.

Lantmäteriet also runs international projects through the state-owned company Swedesurvey . A large number of these projects are financed by Sida , the state authority for international development cooperation.

history

The Lantmäteriet was created in 1974 by merging the Rikets Allmänna Kartverk ("General Reichskartenamt"), which was responsible for creating maps, and the Lantmäteristyrelsen ("Land surveying authority"), an authority for property management. In 1996 the Centralnämnden för fastighetsdata ("Central Office for Real Estate Data") was attached to the office. The Reichskartenamt was set up in 1805 by the Swedish armed forces under the name Fältmätningskåren and had the task of completely mapping the country and producing maps (later called General Staff Maps). The Fastighetsbildning department goes back to an organization that was founded in 1628 with the task of drawing up cadastral registers and geographical maps, as well as training new surveyors.
