Flóamanna saga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Flóamanna saga ("Story of the People from Floi") or Þorgils saga Örrabeinsfóstra is an Icelandic saga of the probably early 14th century.

The saga has been handed down in two versions, the longer one ( AM 515.4 °; 516.4 ° ) being probably the older, more original version. This is in contrast to the shorter, incompletely preserved version. In terms of material, reference is made to older models such as the Eiríks saga rauða and the Grænlendinga saga . Furthermore, the influence of contemporary hagiographic literatures can be determined.

action

The central character of the plot is Þorgil, who accepts Christianity after a trip to Norway and returns home. There, and on further trips to Greenland, he is harassed by the god Thor , but remains true to his newly won faith.
