Refugee coordinator

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Refugee coordinator was an office created by several state governments in Central Europe as part of the 2015 refugee crisis to coordinate the accommodation, care and distribution of asylum seekers , persons entitled to subsidiary protection and other people.

In Austria , this office was officially created at the federal level as the government commissioner for the provision of humane accommodation for refugees in October 2015 and existed until the end of September 2016. Due to the good contacts in regional and local politics, the office holders were the Raiffeisen sector managers Christian Konrad and Ferry Maier . The main task of the refugee coordinators was to ensure that those entitled to asylum were distributed among the countries responsible for care.

The municipality of Vienna also appointed a refugee coordinator, where this position was held by the SPÖ politician Peter Hacker .
