The Flamingo Vintetten is a Swedish dansband . The music group was founded in Partille in 1960 .
The founding members were Gunnar Karlsson, Hasse Carlsson, Bjarne Lundqvist, Dennis Janebrink and Calle Nilsson. In the long history of the band there have been a number of line-up changes. Bjaerne Lundqvist has been playing drums again in the current line-up since 1993, after he left the band in 1963 and was replaced by Boris Estulf. On the other hand, Hasse Carlsson and Dennis Janebrink have been there from the start.
The musicians achieved their first success with the recording of their song Lilla Ann in 1966. In 1967 they achieved the Svensktoppen for the first time with Det hjälper ingalunda lej , and the following year with the songs Nynna en sång and Hon är sexton år idag . The English version of the latter song was called Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen and reached placements in the two hit parades Kvällstoppen and Tio i topp .
In 1970 the Flamingokvintetten founded their own record company called Flam Record. In 1974 and 1975 the band was voted "Dansband of the Year".
In 2005 the Flamingo Vintetten celebrated its 45th anniversary.
