Flatbush is a neighborhood ( Neighborhood ) of New York , which is in the borough ( Borough ) Brooklyn (which is congruent with Kings County ). The name of the district is derived from the Dutch word Vladbos , which means “wooded land”.

Flatbush is known for its many different ethnic neighborhoods, including larger Jewish Orthodox streets.

Flatbush is particularly well-known in hip-hop , as many well-known artists of this music genre come from this district. B. the Flatbush Zombies , Joey Badass , The Underachievers , Busta Rhymes , Talib Kweli and Foxy Brown . Based on the hip-hop coming from Flatbush, some rappers from Hamburg- Eimsbüttel , such as Samy Deluxe or the Beginner , often refer to their district as Eimsbush .

The Brooklyn College and the Erasmus Hall High School located in the area. The Ebbets Field baseball stadium , which was demolished in 1960 and was then home to the Brooklyn Dodgers, was also in Flatbush.
