The Flensburger Sparkasse was a public-law savings bank based in Flensburg in Schleswig-Holstein . With the merger on July 1, 2008, it was transferred to the Nord-Ostsee Sparkasse .

organization structure

The Flensburger Sparkasse was an institution under public law . The legal basis was the Savings Bank Act for Schleswig-Holstein and the statutes issued by the Sparkasse's administrative board . The organs of the Sparkasse were the executive board and the administrative board.

The Sparkasse employed a total of 428 people (including 36 trainees) (as of 2006). It operated 10 branches and 18 self-service branches.

Business alignment

The Flensburger Sparkasse operated the universal banking business as a savings bank and was the market leader in its business area. In the network business, Flensburger Sparkasse worked together with HSH Nordbank , Landesbausparkasse Schleswig-Holstein , DekaBank and Provinzial NordWest .

Current

Triggered by loan defaults, the Flensburger Sparkasse found itself in an existential emergency immediately before the merger with the Nord-Ostsee Sparkasse. The public prosecutor's office in Kiel is investigating those responsible at the former Flensburger Sparkasse for breach of trust. An indictment has not yet been brought (as of May 2014).
