Klaus Tscheuschner

Klaus Tscheuschner (born October 22, 1956 in Bielefeld ) was Lord Mayor of the City of Flensburg from January 2005 to January 2011 .

education and profession

After graduating from the Bosse Realschule in Bielefeld in 1972, Klaus Tscheuschner trained as a middle civil servant with the city of Bielefeld, where he worked in various areas until 1992. In 1979 he reached the university entrance qualification at the evening high school in Bielefeld. He then studied until 1989 at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia and the East Westphalia-Lippe Administration Academy . In 1992/93 Tscheuschner was a lecturer at the study institute for municipal administration of the state of Brandenburg before he returned to his hometown Bielefeld as personal assistant to the city director.

Public offices

From 1995 to 2003 Tscheuschner was the non-party mayor of the city of Burg auf Fehmarn and campaigned strongly for a merger of the cities and communities on the island of Fehmarn into a single city. This goal was achieved on January 1, 2003 with the founding of the city of Fehmarn. In the election carried out by the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper publisher , he was therefore elected Local Politician of the Year 2002.

On November 14, 2004, he was elected as the new mayor of the city of Flensburg as the CDU candidate in the second ballot with 59.5% of the vote. He took up this position in January 2005 and held it until January 2011. His successor was Simon Faber (SSW).

family

Klaus Tscheuschner is married and has two daughters.

Volunteering

From 1997 to 2003 he was chairman of the Baltic Sea Bathing Association Schleswig-Holstein . He was also deputy chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein tourism association for several years.
