history
The Nord-Ostsee Sparkasse was created in 2003 from the merger of the Sparkasse Nordfriesland based in Husum and the Sparkasse Schleswig-Flensburg based in Schleswig. This was followed by the addition of Flensburger Sparkasse on July 1, 2008, and on July 1, 2013 (with retroactive effect from the beginning of the financial year), the savings and loan bank to Bredstedt AG.
The 200-year history of the Sparkasse began on January 7, 1816, when the Friedrichsberger Spar- und Leihkasse was founded. It was one of the first savings banks in the state of Schleswig. It is described by Nospa as the oldest parent company, from which today's credit institution emerged through various mergers.
