The airbase Wormditt was an air base of the Air Force of the Armed Forces about three kilometers northwest of Orneta / Wormditt in what was then East Prussia and the present Polish Warmia and Mazury . The airfield, in Polish Lotnisko Orneta , was used by the air forces of the Soviet Union during the Cold War . After the withdrawal of the Soviet troops, the airfield was closed.

German time
The air base was rebuilt in 1940. The runway was grassy. The first flying unit to be stationed here in June 1941 was II./KG 77 , which took part in the German-Soviet War from here . From 1939 to 1945, various pilot training schools and the 33 pilot training regiment were also housed here.

Polish time
On February 2, 1945, Soviet troops occupied the area of the air base. The place has been called Orneta since 1945 and belongs to the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . The Soviet air force used the airfield until the early 1990s. The site has been deserted since then.
