Raft place in Hasserode

The places where the wood floated down from the mountain streams were rafted and stacked were called raft places, flutes or rafts. Often, raft or raft sites are related to raft ponds and raft ditches.

In the Harz there were, for example, the following positions:

  • in the Mühlental near Wernigerode , between Christianental and Henrichsgarten: 1496 an der flöth , 1822 Flößplatz
  • in Hasserode: raft place
  • in Ilsenburg : Floßplatz
  • at the plug at an angle, where the vocal corner is derived: flute angle
