Raft place
The places where the wood floated down from the mountain streams were rafted and stacked were called raft places, flutes or rafts. Often, raft or raft sites are related to raft ponds and raft ditches.
In the Harz there were, for example, the following positions:
- in the Mühlental near Wernigerode , between Christianental and Henrichsgarten: 1496 an der flöth , 1822 Flößplatz
- in Hasserode: raft place
- in Ilsenburg : Floßplatz
- at the plug at an angle, where the vocal corner is derived: flute angle
In the Ore Mountains :
- Raft place (Selva) , district of Selva
In the Weser Uplands :
- Raft place on the Fulda at the exit of Hann. Münden on the B 496
- in Höxter east of the Weser bridge
In Leipzig :
- Raft place (spoken with a short O)
