Jean-Louis Florentz
Jean-Louis Florentz (born December 19, 1947 in Asnières-sur-Seine , † July 4, 2004 in Paris ) was a French composer .
Life
Jean-Louis Florentz studied natural sciences , Arabic literature and ethnomusicology . Between 1971 and 1975 he studied at the Paris Conservatory with Pierre Schaeffer and Olivier Messiaen . He took further lessons from Antoine Duhamel . Florentz received the " Lili Boulanger Composition Prize" in 1978 , followed by other awards from SACEM and the Institut de France . He used his constant travels on the African continent for ethnomusical and linguistic studies. Florentz maintained a close friendship with Olivier Latry , titual organist at the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral , which led to several dedications. In 1995 he was elected to succeed Raymond Gallois-Montbrun in the Académie des Beaux-Arts . Jean-Louis Florentz died of cancer in 2004.
Grand Prix Florentz
The Ecole régionale des Beaux-Arts d'Angers named in 2005 after the death of Jean-Louis Florentz their organ prize "Grand Prix d'Orgue de l'Ecole régionale des Beaux-Arts d'Angers" to participate in "Grand prix d ' orgue Jean-Louis Florentz ".
