Florian Bieber

Florian Bieber (* 1973 ) is a Luxembourg political scientist and contemporary historian . He is a professor at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz , where he heads the Center for Southeast European Studies .

Life

Bieber studied history and political science at Trinity College (USA), the University of Vienna and the Central European University (Budapest). He worked for the European Center for Minority Issues in Sarajevo and Belgrade for five years and was a lecturer on Eastern European Politics at the University of Kent (Great Britain). He was visiting professor a. a. at Cornell University, Central European University, and the Universities of Bologna and Sarajevo . His research focus is contemporary history and the political systems of Southeast Europe, as well as democratization and ethnic conflicts. He was the editor of Nationalities Papers from 2009 to 2013.

He coordinates the Balkans in Europe Policy Advisvory Group (BiPEAG) and is editor of the journal Contemporary Southeastern Europe and the book series South East European Studies .

Florian Bieber is a signatory of the declaration published in 2017 on the common language of Croatians , Serbs , Bosniaks and Montenegrins .
