Florian Fennes

Florian Fennes (born May 12, 1980 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( baritone saxophone , also other saxophones , clarinet , composition ).

Live and act

As a child, Fennes received his first music lessons on the recorder after initially refusing . At the age of nine, after seeing a big band , he switched to the clarinet. After graduating from high school, he began to study classical clarinet at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . After switching to the saxophone, he completed the jazz and instrument pedagogy course with Klaus Dickbauer at the same university in 2004 .

Fennes has been a member of the Phoen saxophone quartet since it was founded in 2001 , with whom he released two albums. With the cross-over band No Head on My Shoulders he had 300 appearances and released two CDs. He is also active in the Black Page Orchestra , The Cotton Lickers and thefennek . He also belongs to the big band Novelle Cuisine . He leads the Pig Band Sieghartskirchen and can also be heard on albums by Michael Mantler , Palindrome and Barbara Bruckmüller. As an interpreter of New Music , he performed works by Matthias Kranebitter and Margareta Ferek-Petric.

In addition, he has been working as a music teacher in Sieghartskirchen since 1997 and as a theater musician since 2008, in particular at the Volkstheater Wien , Burgtheater Wien and Landestheater Niederösterreich .
