Florian Furtwängler (born March 10, 1935 in Bad Wiessee , † May 1992 in Munich ) was a German film director .

life and work

Florian Furtwängler was a member of the Furtwängler family . He was the son of the mountaineer Walter Furtwängler and nephew of the conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler . Eckard Furtwängler is his twin brother, Bernhard Furtwängler is his brother and Maria Furtwängler is his niece.

After studying art history , which he graduated with a doctorate from the University of Munich in 1979 (the later publisher Hubert Burda was a college friend ), Furtwängler first worked as a journalist for a Munich daily newspaper. From 1966 to 1970 he was an editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk .

In 1971 Furtwängler founded the film publishing house of the authors with other auteur filmmakers of the New German Cinema . He then worked as a producer (FFF Florian Furtwängler Filmproductions), director and screenwriter. He was an actor in at least one film. His work includes more than 80 television programs, including documentaries, scientific series, reports, portraits and two feature films.
