Florian Mayer (born March 4, 1998 in Essen ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with Borussia M'gladbach .

Career

Mayer started playing football as a youth at FC Schalke 04 and moved to VfL Bochum in 2014 , for which he played 26 games (1 goal) in the B-Juniors Bundesliga West and then season 22 games in the A-Juniors Bundesliga West. In 2016 he joined Borussia Mönchengladbach's U19s , and since the 2017/18 season he has mainly played in Borussia's U23s.

At the Rhenish derby between 1. FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach on January 14, 2018, he was part of the professional squad for the first time. The central defender was not yet able to book a game in the 2-1 defeat of his team. Florian Mayer made his first division debut on April 1, 2018 (28th matchday). In the game at FSV Mainz 05 he came on as a substitute for the injured Nico Elvedi in the 72nd minute .
