Florian Thorwart (born April 20, 1982 in Hagen ) is a former German football player on the position of a defender .

Thorwart started his career at SC Dorstfeld 09 . In 1998 he moved to Borussia Dortmund , during which time he was part of the U16 national team and from 2001 was part of the BVB professional squad. On November 16, 2002, he completed his only Bundesliga game when he was substituted on for the game against TSV 1860 Munich . For the 2003/04 season he went to VfB Lübeck . At VfB Lübeck he became a regular player, but was relegated to the regional league. In 2005 he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen . With Rot-Weiss Essen he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , but was not used in the following season. For the 2007/08 season he moved to SSVg Velbert . He left SSVg Velbert after the 2007/08 season and joined the second team at FC Schalke 04 . Due to a femoral head necrosis, Florian Thorwart had to end his active football career in November 2009. He was used 21 times in the 2nd Bundesliga and 110 times in the regional league.
