Florian Wenninger

Florian Wenninger (born on July 5, 1978 in Oberndorf near Salzburg ) is an Austrian historian who mainly devotes himself to contemporary history.

life and work

Wenninger was chairman of the Memorial Service Association until 2010 and worked from 2008 to 2013 as an assistant at the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna, where he works as a research assistant . He is the editor of several books and published a number of scientific articles. He works as a research coordinator in the project “Repression in Austria 1933–1938” and is a member of the editorial team of the journal “zeitgeschichte”. He regularly takes a stand in public debates on contemporary history. In the context of a World-Café for the referendum on conscription in Austria in 2013 , he advocated maintaining conscription .
