Florida class ships

USS Florida (BB-30)

The USS Florida was laid down on March 8, 1909, and launched on May 12, 1910. It entered service in September 1911. During the First World War , she was used together with the British deep sea fleet . At the end of the war, she escorted the German deep-sea fleet to Scapa Flow , where it sank itself. However, there was no fighting. The ship was modernized, but abandoned to meet the disarmament requirements of the London Naval Treaty of 1931 and scrapped a year later.

USS Utah (BB-31)

The USS Utah was laid down on March 9, 1909, and launched on December 23, 1909. It entered service in August 1911 and was used in 1917 after the United States entered the war in World War I. Like her sister ship, she was modernized, later used as a training and target ship, but unlike her sister ship, it was not scrapped. Right at the beginning of the Pacific War , she was sunk in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The wreck was preserved as a memorial.
