As Florida Central Railroad (FCEN) several railway lines in the compression area are Greater Orlando in central Florida's designated that are operated by the same railway company for freight transport.

history

On November 21, 1986, the Pinsly Railroad Company formed a subsidiary called Florida Central Railroad Company , which leased the following railroad lines from CSX Transportation for use:

• Toronto - Forest City
• Toronto - Winter Garden
• Toronto - Tavares
• Tavares - Sorrento
• Tavares - Umatilla

On September 28, 1990, Florida Central also took over the route from Toronto to Orlando from CSX. Since then there has been an important junction with the rest of Florida's railway network.

In September 2013, extensive renovations began on the 57- mile route from Orlando via Toronto and Tavares to Umatilla. The cost is $ 18.4 million , which will be shared between Florida Central itself, the counties , the Florida Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration (part of the US Department of Transportation ). The renewals are also aimed at use in local public transport in the distant future.

At the end of 2019, Pinsly sold the railway company to the 3i Group , which took it over in January 2020 and transferred it to a holding company called Regional Rail .
