Curse of Novgorod is a steel roller coaster in the Hansa-Park ( Sierksdorf ) the model Euro-Fighter of the manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides . It opened on April 9, 2009.

journey

Curse of Novgorod drives through a replica of the Novgorod Kremlin . The passengers are accelerated with a catapult launch in the dark in 1.4 seconds from approx. 20 km / h to 100 km / h. There is also a lift hill that pulls passengers up 90 degrees and then drops them 97 degrees. In addition, a heartline roll is performed during the approx. 120 second long journey . Up to 900 people can be transported in one hour.

The journey begins with a slow left-right curve, whereby the passengers drive past two themed scenes. Then it's about 5 meters down into a tunnel. The car is then accelerated to 100 km / h in 1.4 seconds on an approximately 25-meter-long straight. After an inclined curve to the right, the journey begins outdoors. The car drives up a so-called top hat , on the tip of which up to −1.5 g (weightlessness, airtime ) weighs on the passengers. After the descent of this hill, another hill follows, which is crossed in a 90 ° lateral position. This is followed by the bay knot , which can be compared to two loops inclined at 45 ° . This is followed by the heartline roll, and after a left turn the car is braked. Now the second dark part of the train begins, the car drives into a 41 meter high tower. This envelops the almost 30 meter high lift, on which the carriage is first pulled up 90 ° (i.e. vertically ) and then at an angle of max. Falls 97 °. Numerous effects are also noticeable here. Then another 90 ° inclined hill is driven through, and after the car is gently braked, a small, jerky hill follows at the end, which was replaced and improved at the beginning of the 2010 season after criticism from the passengers. The car turns left into the station and the journey is over.

particularities

For the first time, vehicles were built for a roller coaster that are suitable for both a chain lift and a launch. It is the first combination of a Launched Coaster and Euro-Fighter. The manufacturer himself describes this type of roller coaster as "Launched Euro-Fighter". The descent of 97 ° is the steepest descent of a roller coaster in Germany (together with Huracan in Belantis ) and also the steepest descent in darkness on a roller coaster worldwide.

The railway tells a story around the 14th century, about the Lübeck trader Peer Oldendorp, who is looking for his mysteriously lost father in Novgorod. This takes place, among other things, in the dark ride areas. The story was still under construction during Season One, because even though the Novgorod Curse opened on April 9, 2009, construction was still going on. For example, the inside and outside of the buildings were not yet completely designed according to the theme. The runway was completed when the park opened in spring 2010. The passengers' criticism was also addressed and the journey changed again with new rail parts for the section after the final brakes. In addition, the acceleration was increased in 2010, resulting in a faster ride with higher negative G-forces on the first airtime hill.

Awards

In 2011, the Hansapark and manufacturer Gerstlauer were awarded the “FKF-Award 2010” novelty prize from the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks eV for the roller coaster .
